Welcome to AlpineMeteo, the web app that allows you to view weather data from various measuring stations in the Alpine region in a consistent and user-friendly way.
Please note that we do not guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of the data and do not assume any liability for damages resulting from the use of the data or the web app.
However, we make every effort to ensure that the data provided is reliable.
If you want to see the readings for a station, simply select the station on one of the maps, or click on the table entries. If you want to compare the values of several stations, you can do that in the comparison dashboard.
The diagram in the snow depth model shows you the snow depth as a function of sea level for a given region. The points on the graph represent the actual snow depths measured at a particular weather station positioned at different altitudes. The curves on the graph were created using a GAM (Generalized Additive Model) and show the estimates of snow depth as a function of altitude for the particular region.
The GAM model uses non-linear regression to model the relationship between snow depth and altitude for a given region. The generated curve can help you estimate at a glance the snow depth in different regions for a given altitude. This can be helpful for tour planning.
Have fun!
